Police Invite WAEC Staff Over Alleged Cyberstalking, Defamation

The Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre has invited WAEC staff member Olanrewaju Fadehan to Abuja over allegations of cyberstalking and criminal defamation following his viral criticisms of the examination body and its Director-General, Dr Amos Dangut.

A Lagos State High Court has also issued an interim injunction restraining Fadehan from publishing or circulating alleged defamatory statements about WAEC, its examinations and Dangut. The order will remain in effect for seven days unless renewed, while WAEC and Dangut are seeking ₦825 million in damages.

Fadehan, who heads examinations at WAEC’s Anambra office, had raised concerns over the 2026 WASSCE results, alleged irregularities and financial practices within the council. He said he petitioned the WAEC Board, National Assembly and Education Minister but was instead subjected to disciplinary action and interdiction.

WAEC has denied his allegations, accusing him of spreading falsehoods, while Fadehan maintains that his claims are genuine and disputes allegations made against him. He is expected to appear before the police cybercrime centre in Abuja at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday).
