The burial of Nigerian gospel singer Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, popularly known as Toluwanisings, has been thrown into uncertainty following a disagreement within his family and calls for an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
The development comes amid threats of legal action by gospel singer Tope Alabi and comedians Ayobami Ajewole, popularly known as Woli Agba, and Olamide Oladimeji, known as Dele Omo Woli, over allegations linking them to the late singer’s death.
Toluwanisings died in Ibadan, Oyo State, on October 14, 2026, after reportedly slumping. His death has since generated public concern and controversy, particularly over the circumstances surrounding his final moments.
His family had scheduled a Night of Tributes and Service of Songs for Tuesday, October 27, at 3 p.m. at the Hall of Grace, Jogor Centre, Ibadan. However, uncertainty remains over the final burial arrangements.
Family Disagrees Over Burial Location
The singer’s father, Muniru Adekunle Olayemi, reportedly wants his son buried either at the house he built or beside his late mother in Ikirun, Osun State.
According to reports, the father said his daughter-in-law preferred a cemetery or church burial, as she would be uncomfortable living in a house where her husband was laid to rest.
He subsequently proposed that the singer’s remains be taken to Ikirun and buried beside his mother.
The widow’s account of the disagreement has not been included in the reports reviewed, while the final burial location remains unconfirmed.

The dispute has also taken a new dimension following calls from a man identified as the singer’s uncle, Lawal Ademola, for an investigation into the cause of death.
The uncle appealed to the government, community leaders and law enforcement authorities to ensure a thorough and impartial investigation. He also called for the burial to be suspended until the investigation is completed.
