The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a 28-year-old suspected drug dealer, identified as Rilwan ‘M’, in the Apata area of Ibadan. The command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, disclosed in a Sunday statement that the suspect was arrested at about 8am on September 11, 2026, following targeted surveillance by operatives of the Iyaganku Area Command acting on credible intelligence.
Ayanlade said dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp and a white crystalline substance suspected to be methamphetamine, alongside other suspected dangerous drugs, were recovered from the suspect. He said Rilwan is in custody and cooperating with investigators as the command works to establish the source of the drugs and identify others who may be connected, adding that he would be charged to court once preliminary investigation concludes.
Commissioner of Police Abimbola Olugbenga said illicit drugs constitute a significant catalyst for crime and reiterated the command’s determination to sustain intelligence-led operations against drug trafficking and other criminal activities in Oyo State, urging residents to continue providing credible information to support enforcement efforts.
