The Oyo State Government has reacted to the recent wave of resignations by political appointees in Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration, saying the latest departure did not come as a surprise to the governor.
The Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, made this known while responding to the resignation of the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Barrister Ayobami Ojo, who left the cabinet on Monday, November 2, 2026.
In a statement, Oyelade acknowledged that the developments might leave some supporters feeling betrayed but said Governor Makinde had experienced a similar situation in the past.
He also praised the governor for remaining composed and firm in his convictions despite what he described as sustained intimidation, adding that Makinde’s position reflects the importance of standing by one’s conscience and the truth.
“The clear message that Governor Seyi Makinde is sending to all of us is that conscience is an open wound and only truth can heal it,” Oyelade stated.
The commissioner further said the governor was reassuring Nigerians, particularly residents of Oyo State, that courage and consistency remained important in leadership.
