Nigeria @66: Oyo Government Plans Independence Walk in Ibadan

The Oyo State Government is set to mark Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary with a special Independence Walk scheduled to take place in Ibadan.

The exercise is slated for Monday, September 28, 2026, beginning at 8:00 a.m. from the Government Arcade in Agodi and ending at the Oyo State Secretariat.

According to the state government, the initiative is aimed at promoting patriotism, unity and healthy living while encouraging residents to reflect on Nigeria’s journey since independence. Government officials, lawmakers, youth groups, students, artisans, market leaders, civil servants and other residents are expected to participate.

Security agencies and medical personnel are also expected to be deployed along the route to ensure a smooth and safe exercise, with residents of Ibadan and surrounding areas encouraged to participate.
