The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has confirmed that all 25 people on board an ATR-42 aircraft, NAF 931, died after the aircraft crashed in the Igbokoda area of Ondo State.
The aircraft, which had five crew members and 20 passengers, was on a routine mission from Benin to Lagos when the accident occurred. The NAF said search-and-rescue operations were immediately activated in coordination with relevant authorities, but no survivors were found.
Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, described the incident as a deeply painful moment for the Nigerian Air Force and the nation. He expressed condolences to the families, colleagues and loved ones of the victims and assured the bereaved families of the Service’s full support.

The Chief of the Air Staff has directed a comprehensive investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the crash. The NAF said it would continue to provide verified updates as the investigation progresses and urged the public to avoid speculation and the circulation of unverified information.
The Service has also opened a condolence register at NAF Headquarters in Abuja for government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, heads of security agencies and other well-wishers who wish to pay their respects to the deceased and sympathise with their families.
