Lagos Launches ‘Turn Alausa Purple’ Campaign Against Domestic, Sexual Violence

Lagos State Government has launched the “Turn Alausa Purple” campaign as part of activities marking the 2026 Domestic and Sexual Violence Awareness Month, calling for collective action to prevent abuse and support survivors.

The Head of Service, Bode Agoro, joined the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency to inaugurate the campaign, which will see public buildings and strategic locations across Alausa illuminated in purple. He said the initiative was a reminder that tackling domestic and sexual violence requires the involvement of government agencies, individuals and institutions.

Agoro urged public servants and residents to speak up, support survivors and direct victims to appropriate support services. He said the campaign reflects the state government’s commitment to prevention, survivor support, public awareness and access to justice.

Executive Secretary of the agency, Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, said the campaign was designed not only to change the appearance of Alausa but also to spark conversations and inspire action. She called on the media, schools, communities, private organisations and other stakeholders to promote accurate information on prevention, reporting channels and available support services.
