315 Nigerians to Return from South Africa in Final Government Evacuation Flight

The Federal Government has concluded plans to evacuate another 315 Nigerians from South Africa as part of its final airlift following the recent xenophobic attacks and security concerns in parts of the country.

The latest batch is expected to arrive in Nigeria on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, according to a statement issued on Tuesday by the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa.

The ministry said the evacuation flight, to be operated by Air Peace, is scheduled to depart South Africa at 1:30 a.m. and arrive at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, by 6:30 a.m.

The exercise marks the final phase of the Federal Government’s evacuation programme for Nigerians who voluntarily registered to return home following the wave of xenophobic attacks and rising security concerns in South Africa.

Before the latest operation, the government had successfully conducted four evacuation flights, bringing hundreds of affected Nigerians back to the country. The most recent flight returned 40 evacuees.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and welfare of Nigerians living abroad and commended all agencies and partners that contributed to the success of the evacuation exercise.
