University of Ibadan Law Student Regains Freedom After Abduction

The Students’ Union of the University of Ibadan (UI) has confirmed the release of Miss Abolarin Tomisin, the 300-level Law student who was abducted alongside other participants while returning from a religious conference in Imo State.

In a statement, the Students’ Union President, Temidayo Adeboye, said the victims had been released and were undergoing post-release procedures before returning to their various destinations.

He expressed confidence that Tomisin would return safely to the university community soon.

The union appreciated security agencies, the University of Ibadan management, the leadership of the Scripture Union, and all individuals who contributed to securing the victims’ freedom.

Adeboye also thanked members of the university community for their prayers, support and solidarity throughout the period of the student’s captivity.

Tomisin, the National Secretary of the Scripture Union Student Fellowship and Vice-President of the University of Ibadan chapter, was kidnapped in June while returning from the organisation’s national conference in Okigwe, Imo State. She was the only UI student among those abducted
