President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Rangers International FC following the club’s victory in the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League season, where they secured a record ninth league title with 68 points from 38 matches.
In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President praised the players, coaching crew, management and supporters of the Enugu-based club for their outstanding performance throughout the season.
President Tinubu described Rangers as one of Nigeria’s most successful and historic football clubs, recalling the team’s achievements in the 1970s and 1980s, including league titles, FA Cup victories and notable performances on the African continent.
The President also commended Peter Mbah for supporting sports development in the state, saying the club’s success reflects the government’s investment in youth and sports.
He further praised Rivers United for their impressive and disciplined campaign during the title race, noting that both clubs will represent Nigeria in next season’s CAF Champions League.
President Tinubu wished the two teams success in their continental engagements and applauded their contributions to the growth of football in the country.
