Gunmen Kidnap Bayo Adelabu’s Sister and Twin Children in Ibadan

Relatives of former Minister of Power and All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in Oyo State, Bayo Adelabu, have been abducted by unknown gunmen in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

The victims, identified as Adelabu’s younger sister and her twin children, were reportedly kidnapped on Wednesday morning in the Challenge area of Ibadan South-West Local Government Area.

According to reports, the family members were travelling from the Elewura area towards the expressway when they were intercepted and forcefully taken away by their abductors.

Confirming the incident, one of Adelabu’s media aides, Femi Awogboro, said the victims were attacked and whisked away by armed men while on their way out of the neighbourhood.

“Adelabu’s younger sister, together with her twins, Peter and Paul, were kidnapped this morning by unknown gunmen at Elewura, Challenge, Ibadan,” Awogboro said.

“The family members were going out this morning from Elewura to link the express when they were attacked and whisked away by the unknown kidnappers,” he added.

The incident has heightened concerns over rising insecurity and kidnapping activities in parts of Oyo State.

The latest abduction comes months after a chieftain of the APC in Oyo State, Wale Oriade, was kidnapped in Ibadan in December 2025.

Oriade was reportedly abducted by armed men at his office located within the PJ Square Shopping Complex along Akala Expressway in the New Garage area of Ibadan.

Eyewitnesses said the attackers arrived in a blue Micra vehicle before forcefully taking him away.

When contacted on the latest incident, the spokesperson of the Oyo State Police Command, CSP Olayinka Ayanlade, said the command was yet to independently verify the report.

“I cannot independently verify this for now, but please hold on,” he said.

As of the time of filing this report, there was no official statement from the police regarding the abduction or efforts being made to secure the victims’ release.
