Bandits Abduct Pastor’s Son, Destroy Houses in Ondo Community

Suspected bandits have abducted a nine-year-old boy and destroyed two houses during a late-night attack on the Igbosi area of Idogun in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of Friday when the armed men invaded the community, firing gunshots to create panic among residents.

The abducted child, identified as Oluwatobi Victor Olaosebikan, is the son of a local pastor, Isaac Olaosebikan.

Residents said the attackers stormed the area around 1:00 a.m., causing many people to flee their homes and seek safety in neighbouring communities.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, said the attack was reported at about 2:30 a.m. by residents of the community.

According to the police, the gunmen forced their way into the residence of Pastor Olaosebikan. The cleric reportedly escaped into the bush to save his life, while his son was taken away by the attackers.

Another resident, Joel Owalekan, also reported that the assailants damaged his house while attempting to gain access. He escaped unharmed after fleeing the scene.

The police spokesperson disclosed that security operatives, in collaboration with the Amotekun Corps, have launched a coordinated search-and-rescue operation to secure the release of the child and arrest those responsible for the attack.

He said security personnel have been combing nearby forests and suspected escape routes in search of the kidnappers.

The Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, CP Felix Ohagwu, has directed tactical teams and intelligence units to intensify efforts to rescue the victim safely and bring the perpetrators to justice.

The command also stated that investigations are ongoing, while exhibits recovered from the scene are being analysed as part of efforts to track down the attackers.

Police assured residents that all available security resources are being deployed and pledged continued collaboration with other security agencies and local vigilante groups to ensure the abducted child is rescued unharmed.
