House of Reps Withdraws State Police Bill, Adopts Executive Proposal

The House of Representatives has stepped down its proposed constitutional amendment seeking the creation of state police, choosing instead to consider a similar bill submitted by the Executive.

The development came to light during Tuesday’s plenary, where lawmakers gave the Executive-sponsored State Police Bill both first and second readings.

Following its consideration, the bill was referred to the House Committee on Constitutional Review for detailed legislative scrutiny.

With this move, the House has effectively suspended work on its own version of the proposal and will focus on the Executive-backed legislation.

The committee is expected to examine the provisions of the bill before presenting its report to the House for further debate and possible passage.
