The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the rescue of the younger sister of former Minister of Power and Oyo State APC governorship aspirant, Adebayo Adelabu, alongside her 12-year-old twin sons, following a coordinated operation in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The victims, Mrs. Olaide John-Paul and her sons, Peter and Paul, were rescued on Saturday during an operation carried out by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department’s Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT).
According to a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Placid, the rescue followed days of intensive intelligence gathering, surveillance and tactical operations after the victims were abducted while on their way to school on June 3.

Placid disclosed that the police successfully tracked the kidnappers to their hideout, leading to a confrontation between the suspects and the tactical team.
“The rescue was achieved through sustained intelligence gathering, surveillance and tactical operations. These efforts enabled investigators to track the kidnappers’ movements, resulting in a confrontation with FID-IRT operatives,” he stated.

During the exchange of gunfire, two members of the kidnapping syndicate were fatally wounded, while security operatives recovered two rifles from the suspects.

“During the confrontation, two suspected kidnappers were fatally wounded, and two rifles were recovered. The victims were rescued unharmed and are now in safe custody, receiving medical care and support,” the statement added.
The Inspector-General of Police commended the operatives for their professionalism, courage and determination, noting that their efforts were crucial to the successful rescue of the victims.
Placid further revealed that efforts were ongoing to apprehend other members of the criminal gang, as intelligence reports indicate that some of the suspects escaped from the scene with gunshot wounds.
He assured that security operatives have intensified manhunt operations in the area to track down the fleeing suspects and bring them to justice.
“Operations are ongoing to track, arrest and bring all involved to justice,” he said.
The victims were reportedly abducted on June 3 after gunmen allegedly trailed them from their residence before intercepting and whisking them away in Ibadan.
