Ayodele Fayose has come under criticism following comments suggesting that the recent kidnapping incident in Oyo State may have been orchestrated to discredit President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The remarks drew a sharp reaction from his younger brother, Isaac Fayose, who described the comments as embarrassing and unfounded.
In a strongly worded response, Isaac Fayose said he was disappointed by the former governor’s remarks and questioned why similar accusations were not made against governments in Ekiti State when kidnapping incidents occurred there.
According to him, insecurity remains a national challenge and should not be politicised without credible evidence.
“Shame caught me after watching my brother’s interview last night. When people were kidnapped in our state, Ekiti, why didn’t you accuse the governor? Why are you now saying that the Governor of Oyo State might have a hand in the Oyo kidnapping? If you don’t have anything meaningful to say, keep quiet like other former governors,” Isaac Fayose stated.
The exchange has generated reactions on social media, with many Nigerians debating the propriety of linking criminal activities to political motives without proof.
The controversy adds another dimension to discussions surrounding insecurity in Oyo State and ongoing efforts by governments at various levels to tackle kidnapping and other security challenges across the country.
