BREAKING: Protesters in Ibadan Call for Urgent Rescue of Abducted Pupils, Teachers

Members of the Take-It-Back Movement on Monday staged a protest at Mokola Roundabout in Ibadan, Oyo State, over the worsening security situation in the state and the continued captivity of pupils and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area.

The protesters, who gathered at the busy junction in the state capital, called on government authorities and security agencies to intensify efforts to secure the release of the victims while addressing the rising wave of kidnappings across the state.

Carrying placards with various inscriptions, the demonstrators decried what they described as growing insecurity affecting residents, including farmers, traders, pupils, and students. They insisted that urgent action was needed to restore public confidence and safety.

One of the protesters said, “Let them know that the people of Nigeria are not at peace. Let them know that the people of Oyo State are not smiling. The Nigerian people are fed up with insecurity.”

The protest comes amid growing public outrage over the abduction of pupils, students, and teachers during attacks on schools in the Ahoro-Esiele community of Oriire Local Government Area.

The victims were kidnapped when armed men invaded schools and nearby communities, an incident that has continued to generate concern among parents and residents.

Family members of the abducted persons have repeatedly appealed to the Oyo State Government and security agencies to intensify rescue operations and ensure the safe return of their loved ones.

Monday’s demonstration also followed a series of emotional appeals from relatives, who expressed frustration over the prolonged captivity of the victims and the slow pace of their rescue.
