The Federal Government has launched a digital data platform aimed at attracting investment into Nigeria’s tourism and creative industries as part of efforts to generate $100 billion in economic output and create more than three million jobs by 2030.
The platform, known as Destination 2030 (D30), was unveiled on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, in Abuja by the Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa. The initiative is designed to provide reliable information on the country’s cultural assets, tourism destinations and creative businesses to support economic planning and investment decisions.
Musawa explained that inadequate access to comprehensive industry data has made it difficult for investors and policymakers to fully assess the opportunities available in Nigeria’s tourism and creative sectors. She said the platform would bring together research, sector information and economic intelligence to help businesses identify viable opportunities, assess infrastructure needs and make informed investment decisions.
The minister noted that Nigeria’s music, film, fashion, visual arts, literature and cultural heritage possess significant economic potential. She added that linking these creative industries with tourism could attract more visitors, expand business opportunities and generate employment across several sectors.
According to the government, D30 is intended to serve as a central information resource for investors, entrepreneurs, government agencies and other stakeholders. It will provide information on tourism attractions, infrastructure, creative professionals, cultural industries and relevant government interventions.
The Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Abdulkarim Ozi Ibrahim, said the initiative would strengthen evidence-based policymaking and improve access to information needed to develop the sectors. He stressed that achieving the government’s targets would require reliable data, stronger institutional partnerships, adequate infrastructure and an enabling environment for private investment.
Also speaking at the launch, Olumide Olayomi, Executive Director and Vice President of Government and External Affairs at Cavista Holdings, said the company had contributed private funding and technical expertise to develop the platform through its technology subsidiary in partnership with the ministry.
Olayomi said the platform would help identify investment opportunities, reveal infrastructure gaps and guide businesses towards areas with growth potential. He emphasised that its success would depend on how effectively stakeholders use the information to attract investment, expand enterprises and create jobs.
The Federal Government has called on state governments, industry associations, research institutions, private businesses and relevant government agencies to contribute to and utilise the platform.
The initiative forms part of the administration’s broader economic diversification drive, with the government seeking to turn Nigeria’s cultural heritage, entertainment industries and tourism destinations into stronger sources of revenue, investment and sustainable employment by 2030.
